Somebodies Mom
Do you see that woman over there,
stooped of shoulder, wizened of hair,
face like a map, walks with limp and cane,
looks like she's always been burdened by pain?
Smile, say something nice and watch her eyes.
See how they sparkle and gleam with surprise?
We all need one so give her some hugs,
(Yes, you may have to check later for bugs,
but you have probably made her day).
Now sit and listen what she has to say.
"Once I was young, strong, virile, and loved,
my family was always treasured above
and then he left me for another:
instead of "family" was left as "Mother".
Our road was hard but we got it done,
raised two beautiful girls and a wonderful son.
Am on my own now and am very glad,
sometimes lonesome but rarely sad.
It's true--don't judge a book by it's cover.
May be too old for someone's lover,
but my soul is filled with love and care.
Lord, let me live as long as they are there.
stooped of shoulder, wizened of hair,
face like a map, walks with limp and cane,
looks like she's always been burdened by pain?
Smile, say something nice and watch her eyes.
See how they sparkle and gleam with surprise?
We all need one so give her some hugs,
