Sincerity
Cradled in your arms as you capture my sighs,Whispering your love into my ears,
I'm trying so hard to get over my goodbyes,
But its impossible for me to forget all those years.
If it ended tonight, I'd be fine,
I never needed you to hold my hand,
To me, we were only wasting time,
I didn't know that you wouldn't understand.
I never meant a word I said to you,
Never trust what you hear in bed,
Giving you lies was the best I could do,
You were never going to get into my head.
If I told you I spent the night in the arms of another,
Would you assume it was only to hurt you?,
When I refused to let you meet my mother,
Did you know that I wasn't being true?
You were always just a safe bet,
I knew I'd never regret hurting you,
Attached to your strings, just a puppet,
Such a shame that your eyes are blue.
You didn't realize I was only a lush,
You thought that I could be the girl of your dreams,
Made me wait, you wouldn't rush,
But I only wanted to hear your screams.
I'm the worst kind of thief,
I'll steal your heart and walk away,
Leave you alone to sort through your grief,
While I go searching for another game to play.
