    "Kenny's Butterfly"

My heart is a forest, a desert, a jungle.
A place, where he had managed to subsist.
However, a cold and demonic hand
wedged him in a bottle and holds him hostage.
His wings are covered with the beautiful colors
    of my love and dreams.
With any luck, my provisions of sugar and nectar-MY LOVE,
will give him the vigor and supremacy over egocentricity
and let him come back to his safe haven.
Until that day comes, I recall to memory that it is I and he
that keeps the fabric of nature from falling apart.

Thanks for the kind words. I am glad you enjoyed the poem. It is actually about a friend who has lost touch w/his son and wants him back badly. However, some women seem to think that this will get back at the male.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
