" The First Black Lady "

The "Cement Ceiling" has suddenly softened
and the cracks are finally penetratable instead
of just seeming so, your daughters multiply
our possibilities even grater, for they are being
guided by strong hands and plenty of prayers

Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King
too many "Pioneers and Heroes" From Our Pass To Name
Yet They Are All Smiling Down On You, As You Bring Alive
Part Of "Martin's Dream" as Oprah, Condoleezza and so
many others have!

Little Black Girls and Black Women all over
the world feel a sense of "New Purpose" and
"A Closneness" not felt in a long time between
"Sistas" it feels so good, Thank You!

What A Blessing To Be A Woman Of Color
At This Time In History, What "Pride and Confidence"
we feel in "Our Souls" which is deeply felt and boldly told!

"What A Difference A Day Makes" is a understatement now
Thank You "First Black Lady" Michelle Obama!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
