Questioning Poets

Poets don't have all the answers—
they just know how to
     formulate the questions.

They're looking,
     asking,
     trying to answer.

And maybe,
     just maybe,
the questions answer themselves
     in the searching.

And maybe,
     just maybe,
we don't know diddly squat.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
