    Pretty Women

You’ve been complimented on your looks,
So many times now that it’s common place,
And told that if there were such things as angels,
They would have the image of your face.

At first you were giddy at all the respects,
And that so many could see this beauty in you,
But soon you learned what it truly meant,
And the power that with it you could do.

You learned you could play with men like toys,
And discard them at your very will,
Take the hearts of the most honest man,
And say, “Go, be gone you make me ill.”.

You could use this power to get what you wanted,
You learned how to take but to give never learned.
Without knowing there were many bridges you crossed,
And from the other side those bridges you burned.

I’m sure you will not see it the way that I do,
And think that bitterness is all I have in my heart.
Maybe someday you’ll see what I see,
And perhaps from that point make a new start.

I love this poem! it's just wonderful. I really don't have any suggestions.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
