POETASTER TO POET
I don’t like poetry
I tried to be a poet
You lot said I failed
My attempt, you called evidence
Poetry is a difficult meal to cook
Boy look
It’s not as easy as preparing tea
For a fee
Everyone claims to be author
Of a masterpiece
With a golden earpiece
This is my attempt of a poem
You may find it outlandish
But it’s probably a bad dish
Served for an innocent reader’s consumption
I’ve never liked poetry
And my attempt
Doesn’t change anything
Poetry is a difficult meal to cook
Boy look
It’s not as easy as preparing tea
For a fee
You call me Poetaster
Because my poem’s a literary disaster
Full of inexperience is my abysmal style and diction
Yet it’s not my only conviction
My poem’s destined
For a destination
This is purple poetry
Not a form of hallucination
Poetry is a difficult meal to cook
Boy look
It’s not as easy as preparing tea
For a fee
What you make of this
Will not matter
Only don’t bother
To tell any other.
