personal demons
Sitting here
glaring at the reflection in the water
listening to the shallow breathing of
this beast
So beautiful
With eyes of blue and a silver tongue
lashing you at every moment
She watches
She knows me
Yet I am powerless against her
I try yet again to tear her from my soul
She wins again
How do I
Defeat this demon that is so much a part of me?
She feeds on my fears and hatred and empathy
Bleeding me
I grow weak
Still gazing at her from the water.
Trying, yet again, to drown her
I taste her joy
Metallic on my tongue
It sends shivers down my spine.
Her jubilation echos off the tile walls
deafening me.
She wins again.
I am nothing.
And she is all.
