My Moon
So much like a moon, your life brings light to a darkened, frightened world;
Bringing comfort to those misfortuned by pain, tortured by hurt, their bodies tightly curled.
A moon’s only weakness is that of the upstaging, arrogant Earth, oh so easily deceived;
Who, ever so often, steps in and steals away the source of which your power is conceived.
Led astray it is, believing it can offer the gift of life and all aspects of it;
But only that which it blots out is capable of such, this essence the Earth shall covet.
How it longs with everything that it is to be all that this Moon could imaginably need;
At first blinded, not seeing, that on its pride the darkness will grow and forever feed.
The Earth now sees the source, named the Almighty Three and has come to know clearest;
That it is not he, but They, the Moon should be inescapably nearest.
So from now until that very day, the day of my death’s birth;
My heart’s deepest desire is to never, not once, be the one that is your Moon’s Earth.
Bringing comfort to those misfortuned by pain, tortured by hurt, their bodies tightly curled.
A moon’s only weakness is that of the upstaging, arrogant Earth, oh so easily deceived;
Who, ever so often, steps in and steals away the source of which your power is conceived.
Led astray it is, believing it can offer the gift of life and all aspects of it;
But only that which it blots out is capable of such, this essence the Earth shall covet.
How it longs with everything that it is to be all that this Moon could imaginably need;
At first blinded, not seeing, that on its pride the darkness will grow and forever feed.
The Earth now sees the source, named the Almighty Three and has come to know clearest;
That it is not he, but They, the Moon should be inescapably nearest.
So from now until that very day, the day of my death’s birth;
My heart’s deepest desire is to never, not once, be the one that is your Moon’s Earth.
