    My Jail Cell

    Explanation has no need
Yes you were blinded by greed
Your pockets you had to feed

    The instrument you played well
    Love is my jail cell

    As you pluck the strings
    Sadness starts to sing
    Darkness covers our wedding ring

    Lies fed my mind
    Unhappiness would treat me kind
That gentle touch led me blind

As I look upon your dark complexion
I told myself you needed affection

    Drowning in misery
Fake images of you loving me
Somehow I get lost in an unreal reality

    The instrument you played well
    Love is my jail cell

    Foolishness took over my soul
At some present time I lost control

Allowing you to treat me cold
My self respect has been sold
Believing in the lies you told

    As you pluck the strings
    Sadness starts to sing
    Darkness covers our wedding ring

    The instrument you played well
    Left me compel
Loving you is my jail cell

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
