Poem Commentary

This poem was inspired by my feelings as I go through all the services child welfare is reqiring me to do. I am attending a non- offening parenting class and it is deep study of abuse. I am having many tears fall as I remember being the victim of sexual and physical as well as mental abuse. I also have to do drug and alcohol treatment. I am soon to begin councling which I may heal with the ability to vent in there. It causes my heart such pain, but I must comply to earn my children, my blessings back, even when I have done nothing wrong. It is a hard thing to have to endure.

My Heart Longs To Be Free

The clock ticks as time passes my by.
I sit here wondering...why?
Somethimes it makes me want to cry.
I feel emtions so strong.
All this waiting takes so long.
How long can this nightmare go on?
My heart longs to be free.
Things are just so wrong.
I feel I don't belong.
Authority takes my blessings from me!
My heart longs to be free.
I have to attend classes galore!
It's such a trauma, I want to run for the door!
My heart pounds as I hear them talk about abuse.
Can't they see what there doing to me?
My heart longs to be free.
