Poem Commentary

i wrote this for my mother, and when i sent it to her she cried. its hard living so far from her!!

MOM

You've taught me everything
I needed to know
to build my life
and keep afloat.
You taught me pride
and taught me hope
you gave me life
and gave me love.
You were my mommy then
and are forever more
the woman i look up to
and constantly adore.
You've given me the skills
that i need to succeed
no i must put them to use
to make a life for me.
I don't say it
nearly enough
you are my mommy
the one i love.
I'm grateful for all
that you've done for me
making me strong
and helping me to believe.
You are my mom
and i love you till death
and its the one thing
I'll never regret.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
