    Love's Labors

    Scattered suspended thought marbles,
glistens off the rolling water ripples.
Each beacon, a love goddess’s reflection
hovering in gentle pace from above.
My love, shown to her many waters,
broken in calculated prisms to be
or not, now a scattered soul lost.
If only calm could waves besiege,
then love would be below as above.
    Where confused many angers laid,
a single fire would be maid and I.
Darkness and I would strangers be.
This loneliness would give to light
    that illuminates a common shore.
    But this is not, forevermore.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
