LIfe After Life
There is a tunnel filled with light;
I know you're there--
even as your'e body remains still
But I must remind myself
the body was never the real you --
it was merely a means to accomplish goals
and acquire knowledge while on this earth-
a means for you to make this world a brighter place.
It was the eternal qualities of the soul
that filled your body with life;
and it was there my love found its home
For it is graced with honesty and compassion
and qualities like that do not turn to dust
only to be scattered by the wind
for the soul's life is not bound by the body's mortality
We may be separated,
temporarily,
but you remain alive
and until we meet again
you remain in my dreams
I see the warmth of your smile
with every star twinkling in the sky
I hear your voice in the rustle of the leaves
I feel your love raining down
with every drop of moisture from the clouds
The story of our lives is etched upon my heart
it can't be cut away--
even with the strongest diamond
for my heart is not glass
Their are some who say
"these are warm memories,
or a product of my overactive imagination,"
but in my heart,
I know they are not;
for life everlasting does exist
They ask me,
"How do I know you're safe;
your'e loved?"
I know because you have been reunited
with loved ones who have gone before:
I know because God has assured me
you are in HIs warm embrace
and will be kept safe for eternity
I know because you have shown me
love and compassion
and the eternal joy
that comes from knowing you
and what you stand for
I know because your physical existence
was a warm embrace --
not for me;
but for humanity
I know you're safe
just as I know "Heaven" is love in the purest form
not a city glittering with golden rooftops
because I have seen "Heaven" through the eyes of your soul
But for all my knowing
you are safe and loved,
there is still a void
though temporary
but just as a caterpillar becomes a butterfly:
you too have grown wings of many colors
and one day I shall fly with you
I know you're there--
even as your'e body remains still
But I must remind myself
the body was never the real you --
it was merely a means to accomplish goals
and acquire knowledge while on this earth-
a means for you to make this world a brighter place.
