    Learning to Forget

I want to forget who you are,

And even more who you’ve become

But I’m afraid that will never happen,

    Once everything’s said and done.

I wish I could just press delete

And erase you from my mind,

But unfortunately I’m a part of this dreadful species,

    Called the humankind.

I don’t even know who you are anymore,

    So I shouldn’t even care,

But every time I hear your name,

I can’t help but get this feeling of despair.

It creeps deep down inside me,

    Like a nagging little flea,

And makes me want to go on,

    a SCREAMING, SHOUTING, spree.

I don’t know why I let you get to me,

    Especially after all this time

I should’ve listened to all my friends

Who told me you were a slime.

Now you’ve morphed into this stranger,

    You swore you’d never become.

I just hope that one day,

I’ll be able to feel more then just numb.

So I’d like to make a toast to you,

And to the end of all your lies,

Cheers, you’ve been nothing but a hypocrite,

So I bid to you goodbye.

I am stepping into the sunlight,

As you fade into the shadows of my mind

Losing your memory has not obliterated me,

It has set me free from being confined.
