    Last Dance

    The hesitation in their voices
    Says everything they can’t
No point in fighting any longer
Tonight holds in it their last dance
As the tears stream down their faces
They think of all they’ll never know
Outside they fight to hold on
    While inside their letting go
    Their bond will last forever
They have touched each others hearts
They know they’ll always be together
    Though they must be apart
    Love can be so perfect
But it can never be enough
Each holds the other one together
In a world that is so rough
    She looks into his eyes
Then he looks away from hers
No one could have warned them
Just how bad this all would hurt
He will always be her first love
She will always hold his heart
Now this love they fought so hard for
Seemed doomed from its very start
Two souls meant to be one
    Will never get another chance
So they cling tightly to each other
A warm embrace for their last dance

Thank You for your comments. This is one of my favorites!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
