    Poem Commentary

this is from 2004. first love and such.

    key to my heart

feeling lost, feeling scared, feeling alone
being dared, dared to survive, dared to thrive,
looking for ways to be free
trapped in this wasteland deep within me.
    Needing to get out,
looking for a key, a key to the gates
    a key to my heart.
I found a piece, where is the other part?
    I see it glisten!
Then i see someone, someone lost with me
    We put our parts together
    they work
we open the gate, we're out of the dark.
Now my hearts open, allowed to love.
    All thanks to him.
If he weren't there, I wouldnt have found
the missing piece, the piece to the key.
    They key to the gates
    the key to my heart.
I'll love him forever with every beat.
    They boy who saved me,
took me out of the dark.
    The boy the key,
    the key to my heart.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
