    Just a Spec

We are but a spec of sand in the grand hourglass of the universe.
Yet we walk this wondrous world as if proprietors of this one.
We continue to fail in realization that this is and this isn’t our world.
Tis ours to live in and, tis not ours to conquer!
History has shown us the answer to the question, “Why are we here?”
The answer stares us dead in the face and yet we look right past it.
It is but and only but our egos that continues us on the road of controlled destruction.
Unfortunately we have waited past the point of no return.
Why I would ask but we all know the answer to that, yet we want to stay blind to it.
As if we look past it, that it will pass us.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
