    Jealousy

Why do they get to share such happiness,
    What makes them so worthy,
Why do they get to share such happiness,
They appear to be joyful and carefree.

Feels like I'm a good person for no reason,
Feels like I've wasted my time,
They say the good life is right over the horizon,
I hope I cross over before I reach my prime.

I hate all you happy people,
I guess that makes me a jealous bastard,
I to wish to feel special,
But I don't want to be spoon fed and pampered.

Why do they get to share such love,
They have not always been respectful,
Why do they get to share such love,
They are never upset, only blissful.

Watch as I wallow in my own sorrow,
While your flames of passion burn strong,
Cupid, may i borrow your bow,
I want to find the person with whom i belong.

I can see the happiness in your eyes,
What causes you to feel these emotions,
To my heart you must send your replies,
    Hurry before the barrier stiffens.

This was a good effort. The rhythm was very easy but the feeling I got was despair instead of jealousy. The poem sort of reminds me of the Soliari character in Mozart. Was it jealousy or just that the protagonist is not accepting the challenge.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
