Insanity

Darkness closes in tightly around me.
Like the pitch dark night outside.

No light can penetrate inside this darkness.
Inside this darkness the monsters hide.

I feel that I'm stumbling blind through this maze of pain.
The voices I hear inside my head reminds me I'm slowly going insane.

I reach out for something, anything, somebody to keep me from falling.
Nobody, yet I still hear the voices calling.

My blood flows from my wounds I received on the pathway of thorns.
My head throbs from sounds like an orchstra of horns.

The ghastly visions are stalking me again.
Why can't I erase these visions from my brain?

All I can do is kneel and cry.
Pray for the peace I will receive when I die.

Mybe when I reach the end of this pathway I will find the peace I thirst.
For it was forth told to me if the insanity doesn't kill me first.

So for now I slowly stunble along this dark pathway as I carry on.
Hoping when I reach the end of this pathway there will be a light when I reach the Great Beyond.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
