    I'm Lost Without You

Lord I open up my heart
    To shpw what is inside
There is no secret form you I can hide
I am droning in a world
    Filled with pain
    Nothing left to lose
There must be something to gain!
    Life is what I proclaim!
So show me how to get back to the place
    Where I used to be
    Full of life, joy, peace
    And Prosperity
Show me how to restore my relationship
    With thee
My liberity, I choose to defend
With you on my side I know I will win
If I did not have you
    I would live in defeat
    Miserably depressed, fighting
    To keep my sanity
But you, O Lord holds the victory
So I choose to hold on to you
    With everything I've got
I choose not to be cold or lukewarm
But I choose to be hot
Because I do not want You to sprew me
Out of your mouth into the pits of hell
Where only the repulsive tortures of evil dwells
So I will get in that place
Where You can deal with me
And teach me to be the Child of God
    You called me to be
I've meditated on leaving Your side,
    But I've counted me cost
I now know for sure that
Without You O' Lord Imy soul would be lost

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
