Poem Commentary

Me, just me.

Identity

Who am I really?
Does anyone really know?
To my father I am his daughter,
To my husband I am his wife and lover,
And to my children I am their mother.
Who do I see when I look into a mirror?
Who do I see when I look at me?
A daughter, a wife, a lover, or a mother?
When I'm alone, with no other,
Who do I see when there's no cover?
I'm simply a woman with needs of my own -
Who am I really when I'm alone?

I'm simply a woman with needs of my own - Who am I really when I'm alone? I was just thinking the exact thoughts today... Who am i really and what do I want? Needs be.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
