I Could

I Could

I could sit here for hours
Just thinking about everything that has ever gone wrong
But you would never know
And the minutes just seem too long
I could write you a thousand empty words
Telling you I am fine, and so very happy
But the more I'd write, the more it'd hurt
And it'd only be a lie to both you and me
I could leave this awful place, but to what?
I could stay here, but only to always feel stuck
My mind was once free
My heart was so big
Life was this beautiful game
The game I could always win
But now, what has happened?
My heart has been broken
Not once, not twice,
But over and over again
And there isn't one person
Who will ever hear my silent cries
Continuously, Every single night
For no one could ever possibly understand
No one could even begin to try
It's a struggle just to hide all the pain
Wondering if I'll ever regain MY life
And so I can continue to cry myself to sleep each night
Or I can look myself in the mirror and see
This is not the way to live; this is not right
I know I can get through, and once again, find ME

I really like it very deep. :)

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
