    I can say

I can say I am happy
I can say we needed it
    I can be strong
I can smile and shake it off
I can say it didn't ruin me
when you didn't want me back
I can say there's no regrets
None at all as a matter of fact
I can say it was all your fault
I can say it was your loss
I can say all these things
    but it means nothing
It doesn't make me feel any better
It doesn't undo what we have done
    It doesn't stop the tears
Positive lies only last for so long
    The truth is the truth
    your
    Gone.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
