A whispered knocking at my heart
A rhythmic tapping since the start
A lonesome soul that cries for more
And there you stand outside the door.
You will not talk, or sing, or dance
You can not stand to take the chance
You will not touch to mesh or hold
You will not feel the rose unfold.
The constant pain inside my head
The sheets unwarmed upon my bed
The days and nights becoming years
The toll of truth becoming tears.
You will not stay, nor will you go
Pull me to, nor toss me fro
Be together or be apart
You hold me hostage by the heart.
A whispered knocking at my door
A rhythmic tapping needing more
A lonesome soul that begs to be
A patient prisoner set free.
A rhythmic tapping since the start
A lonesome soul that cries for more
And there you stand outside the door.
You will not talk, or sing, or dance
You can not stand to take the chance
You will not touch to mesh or hold
You will not feel the rose unfold.
The constant pain inside my head
The sheets unwarmed upon my bed
The days and nights becoming years
The toll of truth becoming tears.
You will not stay, nor will you go
Pull me to, nor toss me fro
Be together or be apart
You hold me hostage by the heart.
A whispered knocking at my door
A rhythmic tapping needing more
A lonesome soul that begs to be
A patient prisoner set free.
