Jump into the water,
Be not afraid,
Soon shall we find it,
E'en while we wade.

Swift is the current,
Yet to be tried,
For those who are seeking,
Too soon comes the tide.

There in the blackness,
Some glint 'neath the waves,
Of all that is wondrous
From unfathomed caves.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
