    Help Me Understand

    Please help me to understand
you said you loved me as a friend.
Enjoyed my company to no end.
We had so much fun laughing and traveling
being ourselves and no one judging.

Then one day you felt it wasn't right
you up and left me out late in the night.
Sitting on your door step all alone wondering what I had done wrong.

You shut the lights off and locked the door and pretended I was no more. So tired of sitting, tears dry on my cheeks I stood and walked towards the dark street.

I stopped one more time... turned around hoping I may find you standing there.
    All I saw was dark.
    All I felt was sad.
For a friendship that ended as swiftly as it began.....

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
