Heartbeat

Heartbeat

A heart beats
quick and strong
stops a moment
revives once more
and strides a step long

Press a palm to my chest
thumping swiftly
jumping swifly
laughing its silent laugh
not yet ready for a rest.

With each beat
my heart jumps miles afar
each of my fingers playing a part
inviting me to take a seat
and listen to the rhythm
the rhythm of my heart
