    Halfway Home

    Halfway Home

Went to sleep a frightened child
    Awoke a fearful man
    I’ve journeyed somewhere
My face is marked with time
Looking back, where have I been

    Set course for earthly treasure
Never reached my destination and walked alone
Headed back now from the edge of devastation
With spirit from the Father through the Son
    I’m halfway home

Admitting I was lost was half the battle
The fear that grows from war within myself
Only fades when I choose to travel
Down the path that leads to Him and nowhere else

    Self reliance is my downfall
Direction is weakness to men who know it all
I asked for help and found I’m not alone
Lifted by God, He ceased my endless fall
    I’m halfway home

    What journey may lie ahead
    I don’t claim to know
    Can’t clutter with self conjecture
    Or question with expectation
The direction I’m told to go

So if you see me out here just know I see you too
But the blind can’t lead the blind
Don’t ask me what to do
I’m not the way, just one small part
Living less in my head and more through my heart
God has called, I’ve made a start
    I’m halfway home
