    Grizzzzzz

    Awakened early, he grumps along his trail,
    the enforced sleep grogifing his mind
    while breezes waft almost familiar scents.
    Claws, long and sharp, disembowels a log;
    where grubs wiggle and shine in the thin sun
    and are delicately plucked one by one.
    .
    Snuffling through the leafless brush
    Overturning stones, a living vacuum cleaner.
    Tiered, he seeks respite from his hunger
    drinking gallons of water then rests
    until hunger again gnaws him to his feet.
    He yearns for remembered fat salmon.

    The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

    Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
