    Geese

If what's good for the goose

is good for the gander, why, then

    is this honker forever trapped

in a game of wild goose chases?

The goose bumps grow more pronounce

    as another tear temporarily stains

my goose down pillow fore I now realize

    that this relationship has become

    one big, fat goose egg.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
