Frozen Lakes and Dark Clouds

Frozen Lakes and Dark Clouds

frozen lakes and dark clouds haunt all furry beasts
as they
crunch branches under their heavy paws
set all four down and smell the air
tonight
they'll all move slowly
as if a black cumulus might fall
suddenly
suspect are those starting fires
cleaning cookware

frozen lakes and dark clouds
startle the wisest and noble of owls
"whooooo"
and fly off into the moon
purple and full
crickets line up to make thier chirps
and the chill
stills the already iced water

Interesting read, about the winter approaching and its effects on the animals. Nice piece.
