    From a distance it’s difficult to know if you think of me when you wake.

    I can’t see your facial expressions or here you humming in the kitchen as you make your morning brew.

    I don’t feel you when you walk by the bedroom door and peak in to see if I’ve stirred.

    From a distance, when your silent my mind wonders and fills in the answers.

    At times, I falter because I don’t know.

    My heart believes but my mind chastises as love fulfills when it’s in bloom and fragrant.

    But the perfunctory motions of lives chores leave us stifled and worn.

    Its then I wonder do you see me there, a hand to hold, someone to care?

    It isn’t glamorous, it’s not always wonderful, but it’s simply justified

    By one look;

    Something that says I am yours and you mine.

    An understanding that even in silence your partner stands

    Ready to comfort when life leaves you looking for a way to mend those weary bends in your brow.

    Safely in my arms to sleep together and wake in the same dream,

    A junction of two lives shared.

    Today and tomorrow for as long as we dare.
