Four Part Harmony

Have you ever listened to the rain?

Heard life’s sorrowful melody?

Felt the rhythm of the drops?

Like the heart beat

Of a new born babe

Bum bum bum

With the occasional

Ba bum ba bum

I listen . . .

I hear . . .

And finally

I feel.

I am the rain

The rain is me

We are one

Unified in rhythm and sorrow

Creating our own

Lonesome song

The wind arrives

Steeling my happy wishes

As they escape the cage that is

My heart.

Together the rain and I

Dance

Spinning and twirling

Tipping and swirling

I catch a glimpse of the willow approaching

The vines of the willow

Whipping

Whirling

Winding

Finding themselves

Around my waist

Pulling me into and intimate waltz

Keeping rhythm with the rain

Losing my wishes to the wind

Intimately waltzing with the willow

Sounds like harmony . . .

i am the rain

who might you be

I am the Earth , solid unmovable strong, I have been used and beat upon but I am firm, I am the Earth who might you be? I like the poem it flowed well

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
