    Follow The Heart

    She called me her beacon
    Of light her shining star
Of hope and she told me this
    When we were on date

And I told her she was my
    Inspiration and my best friend
Who knew I could see myself
Spending the of my life with her

I still knew I was too young at
The time so I watch time go by
For now but over time we drifted
Apart so that once kindred spirits

But were friends now and that’s
All that matters to me is our friendship
She is still special however even
    Friendships can drift apart

And she moved away and my heart
Was broken but time passes slowly by
And I watch it pass so the beacon
    Was darkened and the star

Fell to earth but I have a contrite
Spirit and I will wait for that right
Someone for time I just will follow
    My heart

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
