Fear of falling

Poem Commentary

A second, finished (ish) version of this poem.

Fear of falling

Stand quiet on the sand and stone

where sunny, seesaw sounds are blown.

Where only I am quite alone,

Among the love and laughter

Look out across the granite sea,

Its glittering inconsistency,

And ask, are you afraid of me

Or indifferent to departure?

Blustered up on clifftop bleak

Some surety of step I seek.

Yen for connection makes me weak.

Will reaching send me over?

To certain broken, bloodied pain

upon the rocks, where promise drains

from wounds that will not heal again.

Heart silent ever after.

Do not mistake my urge to flight.

I yearn to scale such brave new  heights,

To touch the sun, to best  the fight

And fear of falling conquer.

" Look out across the granite sea, Its glittering inconsistency, And ask, are you afraid of me, Or indifferent to departure?" Very intense poem the longing of your desires flow smoothly. Thanks for sharing Granite sea. Lovely
