    Endless Escape

Her mind seems to haunt her.
    She can’t escape.
    The thoughts harass her endlessly.
Soon her worst dreams will take place.

    Into the bedroom.
    She lays alone.
Against her will but she is there.
Her thoughts come to her mind rising like the dead

She tries to shake it away
Putting her mind on something else.
She tries concentrating on her day
But the last thing on his mind was herself.

The next morning she is unrested.
The little bit she did sleep.
    She had the worst dream.
While still laying alone she begins to weep.

She is praying her nightmare won’t be true
But that would be a lie because this dream is nothing new.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
