    Duvet Day

    Go on, you deserve it,

    You’ve had a stressful night,

Have a day in the duvet,

    And perhaps a pillow-fight!

But if you do, be careful,

As feathers may catch your eye

And then the day will spoil,

    Ruined with a gloomy sigh.

    Go on, you deserve it,

    Wrap yourself up tight,

    Smother yourself in comfort,

    Like in clouds of blissful delight;

    A warm, pleasant feeling

    Will leave you all aglow

As you bury your busy head

    In the softest white pillow.

    Don’t worry about the home,

Leave the chores for another day,

No point in getting more anxious

    Frayed nerves we must allay

    So, keep inside that cocoon

    Of comfort, relish every minute,

Enjoy a day in the duvet

    Go on, you deserve it…

A light whimsical poem, reminding us we all need to stop and smell the roses occasionally. 10 from me.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
