Don't Wake Me

Don't Wake Me

When I close my eyes

I’m next to you

Dreaming of all this could turn into.

I can’t stand what I see

Your weeping eyes

Filled with the pain

From all of the lies.

I want to wipe away your tears

To comfort you

From all your fears.

I want to catch you

When others let you down.

I want to break your fall

So you don’t hit the ground.

I want to show you

 How much I care,

But I’m scared.

Scared to wake up from this dream I’ve found

Knowing that you won’t be around

I don’t want to end this dream with you

To wake up in a world where this dream isn’t true.

So please don’t wake me

I don’t want to see

If this dream is the closest that we’ll ever be.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
