    Poem Commentary

One day while I was getting ready to eat my breakfast donut, I tripped, fell, and my donut died.  I turned to my Paczki friends, and realized that the death was only the beginning of a more powerful morning.

    Ding Dong

    Ding Dong,
The plain old donut is dead.

    The Paczki has arrived,
    Come one, come all,
Feast your eyes upon the new hero.

To the donut we ate for many years,
    Through thick and thin,
    Blood, sweat, and tears,
We thank you for your service.

    Do not despair,
    Paczki will fill our mornings,
    Filling our hearts with joy.

    Forever more,
    Let us consume the Paczki,
    While honoring donut,
    Our faithful friend.

Oh poor donut, murdered at your prime, I will keep you always within my heart, and honor you always. But worth the exttange.

LOL Its true that although I am a nut about the dough, I won't live with dread to hear that it's dead...I have it on good authority, there's Paczki's instead!!! I enjoy these comically sweet interludes!! ~10~ of course!

They are fantastic. If you have a polish bakery near you, they should have some.

Yes, papa, its obvious your patza (crazy) about paczki and I really enjoyed this willy silly nilly rhyme and keep dishing them out because this world of ours needs more light moments and fun and you sure have the recipe. You should really gather these poems and have them published; or run a one-man show and I can guarantee you would make at least a million. We may just find out paczki's are what makes the world go round. lol

Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem! Paczkis definitely have what it takes to make the world go round. In the midwest, there is even a day dedicated to them -- fat tuesday. A day for consuming mass quantities of them. mmm

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
