DIAMONDS AND PEARLS

You know when I first saw you
I said who are you
Just like me you're just an ordinary person
Why would I mind you?

But days had passed
Whenever I see
I can't explain what I feel
The feeling of being in love

Am I in love?
I hope not
To a person like you, like me?
A person who knows how to love but lacks diamonds and pearls

I said to myself
I really love you
What will I do with diamonds and pearls
If you are the one that I really love

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
