Deception

Deception
Betrayal
    Deceit
Why are you around every corner?
and why do I always find the ones
who cannot be trusted?

Lies
  Liars
     Cheats
What are your true motives?
and what do you really want
from me?

Thieves
   Takers
      Impostors
When will you be gone from my life?
and when will I be finished paying the
price for having trusted you?

Love
  Lovers
    Losers
Who else have you been sleeping with?
and who are you outside of your betrayal,
lies, and fakery?

These are the questions we ask ourselves.
These are the truths we deny.
These are the answers we need
to end the deception----
we practice upon ourselves.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
