Death Wish

It was after midnight
The highway was free and quiet
On the radio, a sad love song was playing
As he sped, his vision blurred from crying
"Who said men don't cry?
It wasn't like he didn't try
Who said women were the weaker sex?
He obviously hadn't been in my fix"

"Damn, good for nothing woman!
For you, there'll be no other man...
Like me, I loved you...so much
Hell, I still do...very much
Renee, why did it have to end like this?
When we had dreams far from this
We were a fairytale brought to life
You were my heart, my ideal wife"

"Till we drifted apart
Our work we made of us, a part
And ended up marrying it instead of each other
The strongest bond we shared, Ivy our daughter
The one treasure we were hopelessly devoted to
Pride comes before a fall, is a saying I agree to
The animal that made me too good to beg
God, a whore! how do I pull from this ditch, my leg"

"When we'd been stretched to our limit, we rocketed
An explosion that left us spent, confused and bruised
Behind the door, Ivy lurked looking betrayed
What she saw a mark to be left
The look in her eyes engraved on my heart
I wanted to tell her I loved her but how would I start?
I'd to give in, consenting to Renee's demand for separation
And spend my life living without her in desparation"

"Lord why me?
I spoilt what mattered the world to me
I would never be the same
The big bad wolf is tame
Oh, I don't want to love... I don't want to live"
Like a death wish... he took a dive
Into a tree he crushed as his life ebbed
And blood and tears mingled to spell the end
