    Dead Roses

    Dead roses falling around you
Dead roses lie on the ground
They've all turned from red to black
              Just like you

    We had our time together
I thought it'd last for all time through
And I found myself falling for you

    Dead roses falling around you

I told you how I felt for you
You laughed right in my face
    You called me names
    You broke my heart
And you fed me your disgrace

Dead roses lie on the ground

As you lay dead before me
My bloody hands did murder you
I'll take you down to the gates of hell
    Where you'll spend eternity through

    Dead roses falling around you
Dead roses lie on the ground
They've all turned from red to black
               Just like you

Love thorns into vengeance. Dark indeed. They toy with emotions and they might get burned. The -red to black- line....I read it as meaning -life to deah- perhaps. As I saw it anyway. Liked how you brought the beginning back around to the end. Gave it a chant type feel. Like an echoing memory. A little short for my taste, but everybody's different. Well expressed

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
