Darkness.

Darkness.

Darkness.

Darkness, take me.
Break me.
Fill this void.
This never ending void.

My lungs collapse.
My breathing deteriorates.
My heart stops.
My agony ends.

I see the blackness,
It calls to me.
I creep forward,
I yearn for it.

I think of nothing,
Nothing but the end.
It’s no near,
My only friend.

I feel my soul spill,
Spill never ending.
It should make me ill,
But I’ve stopped pretending.

Flames, take me.
Break me.
Scorch my heart,
My unworthy heart.

Darkness, take me.
Break me.
I deserve it,
I deserve nothing.

Light, stay away.
Get away.
You will expose me,
The real me.

The coward.
The liar.
The fake.
The parts I can’t take.

Light, expose me.
The real me.
The parts that hurt,
Make it hurt.

Darkness, take me.
Break me.
Hate me.
Kill me.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
