    Damage

    Damage

    My love is wasteland,

    Harsh and hurtful,

    Dry, desolate unalive,

    And amongst the rubble,

    Crags, dust, and debri,

A single rose, worth a hundred,

    Blooming bright, radiant,

A distant ember in the night,

    How can she survive,

Rooted in the poison of my soul,

Drinking the acidity of my heart,

I see the wilting of her soul,

    Draining her, killing her,

    My selfishness,

    I should pluck her,

    And give her caring hands,

    But I can't let go.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
