Daddy Where Were You

Daddy Where Were You

My name is called.
Daddy where have you gone?
Can't get in the gate, I need help
All we do is go backwards.
Where is that help I used to depend on?
Where has it gone?
Daddy where are you?
We are in the gate, my mind a blur.
First barrel right but that is not right
Should be left but instead right
I can feel my saddle slipping and ground coming at me
Faster and Faster
Then I hit the dirt. Saddle half off and hores running
Walk out of the gate horse in tow
Daddies running to me but not you
Not the right shoulder to cry on, not the right arms to comfort
Why Daddy? Why were you not there?
Because you drove off and left me
You left me to the wolves
Why did you do what you did; only you can answer
Was it something I said; something i did to make you love me less and leave?
But no matter what the reason you were not there and another had to hold and comfort
Daddy where were you?
Where were you when I needed your shoulder to cry on; your arms to comfort me.
Can you tell me Daddy? Why you were not there??

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
