    Courage

The capital of a poor man
    The ointment of one’s heart
    Courage!
    For anything to lose
    None have you
For anything to gain if there is
    Plenty have you.
    To put on
    To pride in
    There is no other.
    Qualities abound on earth
    Moral orientations swing in numbers
    But none in comparison
    Courage! Courage!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
