Contemplation

Contemplation

I sit here on this quiet night
Staring out the window
Watching the snow fall

I think of the things that I regret
The few I have loved
The one I can not forget

I think of the people I have lost
The ones I have disappointed
The ones I will lose in the near future

How can I be so willing to leave
When others fight to stay
Guilt surrounds me

I long for forgiveness, contentment, inner peace
Things I do not deserve
I find it hard to believe they will ever come to me

sounds like a decision that you lament, this was a good write, well done. :)

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
