Poem Commentary

A quick poem that expresses my safe, FREE place. I feel free when I'm acting.

Comfort Zone

Lights! Camera! Action!
I see the red light click on and I go into my characters world. Saying my lines for the first time.I am no longer Sophia Gilberto.
My mind goes blank, my body goes numb.
But, strangely I know exactly what to do. Suddenly I’m not acting anymore, I’m my character.
I feel transformed, relaxed and in the moment.
Then I feel the comforting, and reassuring words “That’s a wrap!”.
Those words let me know I’ve completed a job well done.
I see, from the corner of my eye, the red light click off.
I feel the Sophia coming back into me. The camera, my best friend and I, are finished for the day.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
